[vc_wp_text]Engaging students with contemporary critical and theoretical debates in the field, our department cultivates the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills necessary for success in both academia and the business world. Working closely with advisors, students create a program of study designed to further their own professional and intellectual goals. While ENCL’s emphasis is mainly on literatures written in English and Turkish, students also study a third language in order to develop a wider comparative perspective. The interdisciplinary nature of our program also gives students the opportunity to study the relationships between literature and other disciplines and art forms.

In addition to the possibility of pursuing a double major, minor, or certificate program in another department, ENCL majors and double majors may also consider participating in the Honors Program in Comparative Literature, which is designed to deepen the literary knowledge and develop the professional skills of academically outstanding students. Participation in this Honors Program is selective, and the program is strongly recommended for students who are interested in entering graduate or professional programs in the future.[/vc_wp_text]
