Research“Who doesn’t want to be a leader?” Reducing worries about leadership through virtual reality
The role of leaders is undeniable for the success of organizations. However, failure rates for managerial/leadership positions are reported at around 50%. In recognition of the fact that leadership positions have started to lose their appeal among younger generations, Aycan introduced the concept of Worries about Leadership (WAL), which refers to avoiding taking office in leadership positions.
The aim of the proposed project is to examine whether individuals with high WAL levels can regulate and decrease their anxiety levels by having feedback provided to them, when they face scenarios that they can expect to face in leadership through virtual reality. In addition to the reduction in anxiety level, the effectiveness of leadership behaviors exhibited in the role and the probability of nomination as a leader are expected to increase.
