Overview
Baran Karsak received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Northeastern University. His main research interests are in the sociology/anthropology of food, eating and agriculture. Karsak’s dissertation focused on the cultural production of value in a global South context, using the cultural-historical making of ‘superfood avocados’ in south Turkey as a case study. Before joining Koç University, he taught anthropology courses at Northeastern University. He is currently a Lecturer in the Academic Writing Program in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of Koç University.
