Utilization of Turkish ceramics, carpets, textiles, miniatures, papercutting, book illustrations as well as folkloric and cultural themes for the design project. European cinema from approximately 1960 to the present. Differences in style and context of European Films, American Films and among national cinemas. British Social Realism movement and the western European Renaissance films of Fellini, Bergman, Bertolucci and Antonioni; the European identity through films.

Presentation of typographic structures, methodology and terminology. Introduction to the language of type as a tool of visual presentation. Strong working and applied knowledge of typography as an element of graphic design.

Hands-on experience in camera use, lighting, working with crews, composition, video and audio editing. Practical knowledge of techniques of non-linear editing, live action video, special effects, and camera movements and cinematic points of view.

Introduction to programming languages such as Java AWT, Swing, .Net that are utilized to create interfaces. Creating applications using programming libraries. The course will focus on utilization of hardware that supports audio, video, gesture, text and drawing. The course will also focus on the basic processing of data derived from such hardware.

Developing the visual elements of ‘one brand’, which consists of logo design, visual identity elements, merchandising materials, advertising and brand communication on printed and digital platforms as well as animation.
